It is usually ladies who throng beauty salons and dermatologists for skin care. Men rarely visit dermatologists for skin care that too when the condition of their skin aggravates. But there are some issues with men’s skin that definitely need to be discussed with a dermatologist.
Dermatologists are not useful only in removing your wrinkles or diagnosing skin cancer, they are far more than that.
Well, you have got a smart face, but an odd-looking mole on your chin is ruining your good looks. How you can get rid of it, only dermatologists can tell you exactly.
Here are six skin troubles of men when it becomes compulsory for them to see a dermatologist. So scroll down the page to get a bit of it.
Conjunctivitis, the most common eye infection has not this property of segregating gender that no it should infect only ladies and not men. It is an unwanted guest that can infect the eyes of both men as well as women.
Dr. Adam Friedman, who teaches dermatology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences said that in conjunctivitis, the eye membrane is infected, which is detected by a bulging over or below the eyelids. He said that this order is best treated by a dermatologist rather than an eye specialist because it is a skin disorder.
2. Unhealthy Scalp
If you have a shiny, bouncy hair, girls will be more attracted towards you and if your hair is littered with dandruff, you will look dull and as a result girls will not look towards you and if your hair starts falling at a very young age then your chances of getting married will get bleak. So it is better for you to see a dermatologist before such a condition arises in your life. He is the exact person who can help you in getting rid of baldness and dandruff.
The main reason of dandruff is infrequent washing. “If you will not wash your hair frequently, dead cells from the scale of your head will start piling up. They will clog with each other to form dandruff. This dandruff then shows as flakes on our black hair,” Skin experts claim. Though baldness is majorly a genetic problem, but sometimes it can arise due to the blocking of hair follicles. Dermatologist’s treatment can open these blocked follicles for hair regrowth.
3. Nail discoloration
If the color of your nails has changed over the time or they have become brittle, pitted and scalar, then it is a sign of any serious health disorder. Usually, these symptoms occur in conditions like psoriasis, malnutrition, and thyroid disorder.
Dermatologists warn that even if these symptoms are not bothering the individual, still he should see a doctor because it means everything is not going well in his body, there is certainly some problem
“We know from research that high blood pressure, for example, can be much more resistant to treatment if you have psoriasis,” Dermatologist Friedman explains. A dermatologist can help identify those interrelated health conditions, he adds.
4. Mouth ulcer
Mouth sores are best treated my dermatologists than a common physiologist because it’s a pure dermal problem and no one can understand it better than them. “There are a handful of diseases dermatologists treat that only present in the mouth,” Dr. Friedman says.
He said that mouth ulcer which is commonly known as the aphthous ulcer is either caused by abnormal body immunity or GI disorders.
5. Fungal infection below the belt
For problems below the belt, every time you cannot rush to an urologist. There are skin problems which are caused by fungus or bacteria. An urologist cannot treat your skin problems, only a dermatologist can do it.
“People often go straight to their urologist for any problems related to their genitals. But some issues that appear “down there” are fungal or related to skin infections, and so are better treated by a dermatologist,” Dr. Friedman said.
He said that a skin problem down there “lichen Sclerosis” can transform into cancer if not treated by a dermatologist immediately.
Most times, if the skin problem is left untreated, it can lead to depression in an individual. So it is better to treat skin disorders immediately, otherwise, they can become a big worry for you later on.
“Psoriasis and some other skin conditions are inflammatory diseases, and inflammation has been linked to mood disorders like depression,” Dr. Friedman says. “Treating that psoriasis may help lift the clouds,” he adds.
